The Blog Law Guide Affiliate Program FAQ
This FAQ is provided to help explain the highlights and some of the main rules of our affiliate program, which is housed under our primary legal brand, The Contract Edit. It does not override or replace the official Affiliate Program Terms & Conditions. If anything here conflicts with the Affiliate Program Terms and Conditions, the Affiliate Program Terms & Conditions govern.
The Blog Law Guide Affiliate Program lets you earn commission by promoting both Blog Law Guide and The Contract Edit digital legal products, like templates, guides, and resources designed for content creators, bloggers, and online entrepreneurs. When someone clicks your unique affiliate link and makes a purchase, you earn a percentage of the sale.
You earn a generous 40% commission on the net sales price of each qualifying purchase made through your affiliate link. That means after any discounts, taxes, refunds, or processing fees have been applied.
Commissions are paid out monthly, typically within 30 days after the end of each calendar month. You must earn at least $30 before a payout is triggered. We process all affiliate payments through PayPal, so please ensure your payout information is correct in your affiliate dashboard.
We send all affiliate payouts via PayPal, using the email address you provide in your affiliate dashboard. You DO need to set up a PayPal business account to be paid. This is required by ThriveCart and PayPal.
Make sure your PayPal account is fully verified to avoid any issues with receiving payments. If your PayPal email is incorrect or your account has restrictions, we aren’t responsible for delayed or failed payouts. If you’re outside the U.S., check that PayPal supports receiving payments in your country before applying.
It’s easy to do. ThriveCart has a step-by-step guide here to walk you through the process.
No. There is no purchase necessary to participate in our affiliate program.
You’ll apply through our affiliate platform, which is powered by ThriveCart. If you don’t already have a ThriveCart account, you’ll be prompted to create a free one during the application process. Click here to apply now.
Once approved, you’ll gain access to your own private affiliate dashboard through ThriveCart. There, you’ll find:
- Your unique tracking link
- Promo materials (if available)
- Commission reports
- Payment status and history
Everything is inside your ThriveCart affiliate dashboard. It’s a secure, personalized dashboard that only you can access.
Affiliate cookies are valid for 12 months! That means if someone clicks your affiliate link and purchases anytime in the next full year you’ll receive the commission
We use a last-click attribution model. If multiple affiliate links are clicked, only the most recent one before the purchase will get credit. Earlier affiliate clicks will not count.
You can promote your affiliate link in a variety of channels, such as:
- Your blog or website
- Organic social media (not paid ads)
- Email newsletters (no spam!)
- YouTube or podcast content
- Webinars or private online communities
Just make sure you include a proper disclosure each time you share your affiliate link. (More on that below.)
You may not share your affiliate link:
- On coupon, deal, or rebate sites
- In paid ads that target our brand name
- Via unsolicited email, messages, or spam
- In a way that impersonates The Blog Law Guide
- Using deceptive redirects or cloaked URLs
- In any place where affiliate links are not allowed without written permission
Yes—always. The FTC requires you to disclose affiliate relationships. This means every time you share your link, you must make it clear that you may earn a commission. Here are a few disclosure examples you could use if you need suggestions:
- “This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.”
- “As an affiliate of The Blog Law Guide, I may earn from qualifying purchases.”
Disclosures should be clear, visible, and placed near the affiliate link. In videos or podcasts, they should be spoken aloud and shown on screen.
No. Self-referrals are not allowed. You also can’t earn commissions on purchases made by close family, household members, or business partners. If we find these types of purchases, the commissions will be reversed.
Generally speaking, we do not offer refunds for our products except in extremely limited circumstances. If a customer is refunded or issues a chargeback, we’ll reverse the related commission. If the refund happens after you’ve been paid, we may deduct that amount from a future payout or invoice you to recover it.
No. Our program is only for individual affiliates using their own content and marketing channels.

Most likely, yes. Affiliate commissions are considered taxable income in most jurisdictions. You are fully responsible for reporting your income and paying any taxes required by your country, state, or local government.
We do not withhold taxes on your behalf unless we are legally required to.
If you are a U.S.-based affiliate, you may be asked to submit a completed W-9 form. For non-U.S. affiliates, ThriveCart may require a W-8BEN form or similar tax documentation. These forms are generally used to verify your status and determine whether any withholding applies.
Please consult a tax professional if you’re unsure how to handle affiliate income on your tax return.
If you violate the Affiliate Program Terms—especially in ways that involve fraud, spam, or misrepresentation—we reserve the right to remove you from the program and withhold unpaid commissions. We’re here to build mutually beneficial partnerships. When in doubt, ask us first.
